New Old Music

I recently ran across a CD from a band I played in 14 years ago called the Jeff Greer Band… I had forgotten how good we really were and we had a great time playing together. We wrote a lot of good stuff but never played a whole lot of shows… we lived in a place where there weren’t many places to play. I was doing my Monday Mandolin Mayhem gig at a cool little bar here on Tybee called The Sand Bar and I played the songs from that CD and during one of them, a buddy of mine at the bar turned to me and asked “Who is this band?” I told him that I had written the song that was currently playing… “It’s good,” was his reply… Looks like I’ll be reviving it. What do you think? The song is called Great Day and was inspired by the following Yeats poem

Hurrah for revolution and more cannon-shot!
A beggar upon horseback lashes a beggar on foot.
Hurrah for revolution and cannon come again!
The beggars have changed places, but the lash goes on.
